It was me who used Bristol Finish. STAY AWAY FROM THAT STUFF!!!!!!!!

The topic of natural vs. oil vs. varnish vs. Cetol takes on a religious fervor with each having it's own proponents.

I want to hear some reports of folks who use a teak "sealer"

I need to redo my teak, as who knows, I may get my boat ready for sale. In any event my peeling off Bristol Finish looks like crap

Another warning (not from first-hand experience): Somebody I knew tried epoxy with a spar varnish overcoat, as suggested by, I suppose, some epoxy manufacturer What a disaster! ...and it was almost impossible to remove the cracked, darkening junk to get back to bare teak. Apparently, even with a UV-resistant varnish, epoxy can't tolerate the rays.

I suppoae if you're preeping for sale, you might want to strip and then use the leastdifficult/costly finish that leaves the teak looking showroom pretty and will allow the next owner the option of doing as he/she likes. Sound like oil to me.
