I am sorry to report that Fleet 94 will NOT be putting in a bid to host the Nationals in 2008.
Our fleet has LOTS of boats "listed", but few participating. Some really key players have bought C 28s and are moving on.
I can't do this without lots of help and it just isn't there. When the I told the locals I was thinking of giving up on this idea, several said, "Good idea".
I'm thinking seriously of moving to another boat myself; you may soon see an ad for "Encore!". That being the case, don't look for a bid from this fleet unless someone else heads it up, and that isn't likely.
Sorry....the 2004 Regatta provided me with some great memories!

Gary B. - personally I'm sure sorry to hear that. We had such a great time there in '04. P.S. I still have the bottle of wine with the Nationals label...any offers?
Gary... time has a way of changing things sometimes in ways we count positive and of course sometimes in ways we regret.
That you were willing to take a hard look at it is evidence of your passion, willingness and desire. That your objectivity concludes it is not in the cards portrays your passion doesn't overstep a grasp of reality.
I'll add a personal note here along this vain of thought... For many reasons I've not cruised in three years and it is looking like this year may also not happen, which will mean four years missed after seven years straight. These missed years are not because the passion has been lost... but the realities play their hand.
There are of course great hopes that the opportunity will exist to get ducks in a row for many future cruises... time will tell if good fortune comes for that to happen.
Whatever your course ahead... I wish for you and all others... good fortune.
Dam Sorry to hear that! My wife and I were looking forward to a vacation out west next year! But Gary it appears that your clubs apathy is infectious through out the C-25 community. There has been a lot of lost passion of late with members selling boats and moving on. But in any case I do appreciate your efforts.

I'm not sure I'd call it lost passion Bill - it is the general cycle. This boat is a starter for many people and a nice retirement boat for others. It is also the king of the hill in many inland lake locations. I think if you checked the rolls you'd find a very continuous turnover of these boats about every 4 years. (I've seen it twice and am now on my own turnover)
Just because people aren't sailing a C-25 doesn't mean they've lost their passion, It may have been a stepping stone in their overall plan, might have been a priorities shift, or other unforseen circumstances.
Arlyn - I'm really sorry you won't be going for that cruise again this year. Just this past Friday I reread your "Halo around the Sacred Isle" story again. I could tell how much you enjoyed the trips.
