This is a tragedy. What makes it worse is that the Police believe that it may have been deliberate.

I visited the Cutty Sark during the summer of 2001, before I left the UK to move to the US. The whole area around Greenwich, including the Royal Observatory, has special meaning for mariners around the globe.

This is sad day. I hope it is not as bad is it looks.

Of course it's deliberate. If terrorists want to hit where it hurts, they hit the British where it hurts most: their history. Especially as it applies to Tea. 250 year old ship set afire - not a mishap, had to be deliberate.

Hopefully not. Any ship in a state of major repairs has all sorts of equipment, chemicals, temporary lighting, solvents, and a lot more. Then again, like Andy, being from the UK, the cutty sark holds some dear memories, especially as a 25 yr navy vet.

Paul.
