I have my main sail off in order to repair a rip below one of my battens. The sail is not in the best of shape but has at least on more season in it. Either way I am going to sail shop around. I measured the sail along the slides it measures 23'4" and the foot is 9'. All of these measurements are give or take an inch. Do I have a tall or standard rig?

There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't

At 23'4" for the luff, your main appears a bit short. The "P" dimension is listed at 24'8" and a quick check over at CruisingDirect shows a luff length of 24'6". Additionally, the foot should be around 9'6".

Maybe this sail came from another boat?

I measured again the sail is only 23' 4'' It has the C25 diamond logo. Perhaps the way I have it layed out on the floor is making it measure a little short or it was recut once upon a time. Either way I must not have a tall rig. A sail any longer that I have now would but the boom in the cockpit.

I'll suggest that your sail is a bit "relaxed" where you're measuring it. The halyard, downhaul, and outhaul can stretch it out by a good number of inches--I'd guess 8-10" at the leech and 4-6" at the foot.

Don: Are sails officially measured under any tension?

Anyway, the tall rig mains'l is 3' taller (although the mast is only 2' taller).

If mine is a standard then having a tall rig would be miserable the boom would be all in the cokcpit. I would like to have an even shorter main now than the one I have.

Attach a line to your main halyard and run it all the way to the top. Mark the line at the bottom of the mast. If it is approx. 28 ft instead of approx. 30 ft, you have a std rig. The tall rig mast is 30 ft long.
