We recently acquired a 1978 Catalina 25 with a broken mast. We had two broken masts welded together(with an internal sleeve)and the boat is now in the water. However the original mainsail is in sad shape. We would like to upgrade. Maybe someone out there has an old main in better shape? (shaw9939@sbcglobal.net)
Rick, A fellow by the name of vagabond II posted a main and jib on the c25 forem but I haven't heard back from him. I would gladly donate mine to you if he follows through with sending me his. Mine isn't too bad mechanically but it is a bit stained with mud duaber nests. It has the hull numbers stuck to it but I would guess that what you are looking for is a serviceable main. Ed
Rick, just sent you an email. I have an old main and a jib from Puff, a 1984 Cat25 SR, FK. Let me know if you and the Sea Scouts are still in the hunt! Your appeal has struck a cord -- having been a scout (Eagle, OA, camp counsellor) Cheers
Richard, I am afraid all my efforts and promises have gone to naught. When I responded to your request, I replied and, at the same time, removed the item in my "boat for sale" saying two suits of sails to one set of sails. ("Puff" on the website). However, within three days a buyer showed up, bought the boat this week, and wanted both sets of sails since he had seen the earlier ad. I really have egg on my face. I apologize. This is upsetting to me. I thought for sure I had covered all the bases and was going to be able to help your sea scouts. The buyer "may" still decide to give them back to me as I mentioned the sea scouts needed a set of sails and pointed out that the set on the boat were much nicer and several years newer. He could not make up his mind, and I was very reluctant to press the point. I know some other folk who have Catalina 25s and will be contacting them in effort to make it up to you. Stay tuned. With sincere apologies and best wishes ... I will follow up with you Cheers, Bob
So again, I will call out to the fleet to see if anyone has a decent used main for a standard rig Catalina 25 that we can use on a Sea Scout Boat. Please contact me through shaw9939@sbcglobal.net
