Took our third sail in our new, (well, got it in Oct and spent the winter and spring on projects) boat yesterday, We had gust's to 30 mph, all went very well till 6 sail slugs popped like a zipper under a pretty good gust. They look to be pretty old (Sail was reconditioned by sail care this spring, but it had not been used by the PO for awhile, I am guessing) I borrowed some other slugs from another sailor at the club, but want to replace them all with new. Mine are attached to the sail with screw on clip things that look like small versions of what holds on a block (sorry, I am a newbie and don't know the exact term.)I searched the posts and found one referring to 3/8 diameter slug for a tall rig. The diameter of the track in the mast (std Rig #5860) looks a lot bigger than 3/8's Is this the correct slug size? any preference, other than price, on the Plastic vs nylon w stainless bails at West marine? It is not a full batten Main, or loose foot.
