My twelve year old son and I will be staying on Orcas Island from 7/13 through 7/22, and I'm curious about sailboat rentals in the area. Please let me know if you are aware of any potential contacts, and also if you personally happen to be located on or near Orcas Island.

You used to be able to rent dinghy sailboats at the Rosario Resort. I had a nice afternoon on one long ago.

Don't know any of the other charter outfits personally, sorry. I have friends in the know up there, if you don't get the recommends you need, email me and I'll ring some friends...

Orcas Boat Rentals and Charters at Deer Harbor on Orcas Island has boats for rent. You can find it at http://orcasboats.com. It looks like the largest boat they have is a J-24. I found the site through Lattitude 48 North Sailing magazine http://www.48north.com . I don't have any personal experience with this company, but let us know of your experience if you go with them.

Thank you, Kevin and Nick. A J-24 would be the perfect size for the two of us on a day charter. I'll report back on what we find and ultimately do.
