I can't wait to watch it when I get home. Rita & I figured out that VS was broadcasting it only over the weekend (<rant>who would call the America's Cup "yachting"?, why not "America's Cup", "regatta", "sailboat racing", something that would occur to you to search for? </>rant). We could have watched all of the races, instead we only got to see the postponed race seven, and today's race was just starting as I headed to work at 5:30am today. She was giving me the blow by blow over MSN Messenger, so unfortunately I know who won already, but I'm still looking forward to watching it. Especially the only foul ever called in cup history!
I'll have to turn down the volume when Hummer is talking, he just annoys me, but the other guy (drawing a blank on his name) isn't too bad, at least he's been in (and won) two cups.
I'm not familiar with the rules but are you telling me the penalty call is totally up to the one race course judge?? There's no official in a skybox somewhere that's going to call down and overrule the call made on the field...eerrr, I mean course??
With the kind of money these guys throw at the sport, you would think instant replay or a review of the call would be an automatic.
"IMHO that foul call was a horrible error! Allighni had plenty of room without having to change course."
Dunno... I thought the call could have gone either way. A controversial foul, but equally controversial if they didn't call it. If ETNZ had ducked 5 seconds earlier... IMHO: no call.
After commenting on the replay that there appeared to be a lot of water between the boats the commentators said that when they played the scenario forward on their "sailtrack" or what ever it is called this year Alinghi hit NZ so they signed off on the call based on the computer simulation.
