Greetings, does anyone happen to have the dimensions or drawings of the dinette table in the 1977 Catalina 25? Pictures of the mounting hardware would also be very helpful. The model that we have has the cushions arranged in an "L". We would like to build a new table for our boat that is presently not accessible to us due to the flooding at Lake Travis in Central Texas ... I would really appreciate the help. Thanks!
There is a manuals and brochures section on the upper left hand side of the forum page. In the brochure section on page (31 ?)is a picture of my '83 cat's dinette. I've never seen an "L" shaped dinette set-up though I've heard them mentioned here. If you have a dinette table as depicted herein I'll get the measurements today.
A call to Bill Holcome might be a quicker tack to take since he sold Cats some time ago and is loaded with knowledge. Sorry Bill I think I spelled your name wrong.
Don I figured you'ld come through as usual..."YOU DA MAN" I've sailed Cat 25s for fifteen years and never came across the "L" shaped dinette. It seems to be a design mid way between the treditional and the later day dinette.
Do you have any measurements for that design? I don't think dimentions of my dinette table would be of any use...seems to be a larger table. I'll be down to the boat as soon as the Admiral gets back and take measurements of what I have. I wonder if a call to Catalina would be of any help?
No Val, I do not have measurements for the "L" table nor do I have this layout (I have the other dinette interior). The picture is one I saved from a while ago from someone else's post.
These are the measurements on my 77 fin keel. 24 x 38 with a fold down support leg when lowered for sleeping. leg is on corner not supported by setee trim. john on ms achsa
Just back from the boat and the table that I have on the '83 dinette measures 45"X23 1/8". The long dimention runs atwarth ships with the straight end abutting the port wall, the opposite end has rounded corners and is amidships. The table seems to be the same size as the one pictured in Don's entry.
I kinda like the one pictured in Don's post but I'm not sure it can be lowered to form a bed of sorts as in my dinette. Hey ya win some and ya lose some.
Oh! and welcome to the forum and best of all things to ya.
Oh and one other thing while we're at it, how did you come by your boat's name and what does it mean.

In my case Calista was a nun in the order of Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart. The best "darn" teacher that I ever had . She would have looked skyward with a grin had I said "damn", but in deference to her I chose the former. Perhaps she was also responsible for my becoming a teacher.
Thank you all for your responses! The picture does look like the table we have and it sounds like John Bixby has the same one based on the corner leg support. We have purchased a big chunck of butchers block from Ikea and so we hope to just cut out the top and attach the same hardware back onto it. I will post a picture upon completion...
As for the name, my husband and I were married in Costa Rica on the beach where the term "Pura Vida" is used as a thank you and as a farewell wish it means literally "Pure Life" but translates into living a good happy life with your priorities in the right place... seems to fit for a sailboat...
Thanks for all the help and comments... and John if you can get a pic of the underbelly hardware it would be greatly appreciated...
We have completed building and installing our new table Thanks again for your help the sizes were perfect - it is oak, we can't decide if we should stain it to match the teak... we will float on it for awhile
This is my 1st post!!! YEAH! Nice job on the table BTW!
Any Ideas on how to remove the tables 6 slotted screws in the bottom bracket if they're frozen solid? I wanted to reinforce the donut flange for my table with 1/4" teak & holly. The table is a little flimsy due to the weakness of the fiberglass. I was gonna cut a piece for the floor (plus the two covers), then epoxy it onto the floor. Probably have to sand and coat the edges of the ply. I have a cardboard template and the wood but can't budge the screws. Do I have to drill em out?
We used a drill with the torque setting way up - ours were somewhat stuck as well. Hopefully yours weren't epoxied in... We have found that our table is somewhat flimsy installed because of the way the table lowering screw is attached. It allows too much flex between the bolt and the column. We are going to try to wedge something in as a temp. fix. We don't want to epoxy it because we want to be able to raise and lower the table still.
