Man, has it ever been a long time since I posted here...I need to get back to work on my boat again after seeing all the projects you guys are doing.
Got a question - What are your various PHRF ratings? I am on Lake Norman, NC and have a 228 rating ('86 Cat 25, FK, TM). I am curious as to how ratings from other areas compare.
I was thinking that most were 222...Our local council raised all the ratings on the Lake by 6 seconds/mile a while back because our ratings were on average a bit lower than those at the coast where some where trailering their boats for weekend regattas.
If you have a tall mast you should be in the 216-222 range. 228 -231 is the standard rig numbers.
If they are giving you 228 I wouldn't complain.
Lake Erie is 231 for Standard spinnaker and 241 for JAM (though the numbers do not cross - you either race one or the other) A few years back PHRF-LE had an adjustment - all but 3 or 4 boats got 3 seconds.
A few words of explanation of those pages:- Obviously the first column is the area posting the numbers (YRALIS is Yacht Racing Assoc. of Long Island Sound). The 3rd column (A,B or C) is a reference to how long they have experience with each boat (A = less than a year, B = 1 year +, and C = more than 2 years). The last column ('94, 88' etc) is in what year they first rated each boat. Hope this helps a bit...
