We purchased a 1980 Catalina 25 which is sitting in a boat yard in Quincy, Mass. Unfortunately due to work demands my husband doesn't have the time go through the rigging on the boat. The boat's mast needs to be stepped up and all lines and cables, etc. gone over for repairs/replacement of rigging hardware and lines so she's ready to sail. Anyone know of an experienced boat maintenance person, who is knowledgeable of the 25' Catalina in the Quincy, Mass (near Boston) area? We'd also love someone to show us around the boat's systems (previous owner is out of the country) Thank you!
Welcome! You'll probably hear from one of our Boston-area members... Meanwhile, however, the rigging for a C-25 is very generic--any professional rigger at a marina can set up, inspect, and repair it with no problem.
It sounds like you didn't get a survey... That could answer many of the questions you have, as well as educate you on things you should attend to. You probably saw my and some others' suggestions on that in another thread this morning. Some insurers require a survey--some don't--but many of us have found it well worth the minor expense.
Enjoy with your C-25, and bring your questions here!
Have you had any luck finding anyone? I have a C 25 SR/FK that I keep in Hull. I am still learning the ropes, so to speak but I was wondering how you were progressing.
