The Admiral picked up the new Harry Potter book - rather I picked it up for he as she is afraid to make contact with other humans for fear of hearing how the book ends.

We went out sailing last night and all she will do is lay on the cockpit bench and read. That means mainsail only sailing for me since she wont handle the genny. Thank goodness this is the last book in the series or I might have to rig for single handing.

We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.

LOL.....the Admiral couldn't crank the jib in if she tried......it hurts me to do it.....650 square feet on a Lewmar 50, two speed, with ratchet handle...the tension on the sheet is immense... So she just makes sure she's not in my way and doesn't get bruised when I do it.

Repeat after me: "Autopilot with tack logic". It sounds like "gadget freakery" but in reality it's an extra crew member.

I was ready to excuse the kid-crew from Sunday's race. It was light air and they would be either to distracted or grumpy. However, my wife volunteered them to race on a Shark (18' wooden catamaran). They had a ball and then got back to the books.

My son (14) finished by Sunday afternoon and my wife and daughter were not far behind.

We did the midnight line thing at Borders until we discovered that the grocery store across the parking lot was selling them with no line at all. That cut out another two hours of waiting I am sure.
