Last week while sailing along we heard a crash down below, the head door became separated from the door frame and crashed onto the cabin floor. It was previously glued to the frame that hols it. I was surprised how heavy it was. Has anyone encountered a similar mishap? Also, I'm not sure I want to re glue it. Any thoughts on a better repair?
Nope, its a C-250. Posted the thread under general because I don't know if C-25's have a Porti-Potti door, bathroom door, etc. This is a general wood working question. The door became seperated from the door frame which has the door hinge on it. I was worried about re-gluing it because of weight of the door. Just thought some one else expierenced a similiar problem. This is an older C 250 1995 vintage.

I'm only cursorily familiar with the C-250 head, but it sounds as if a couple of screws or bolts are called for.
For the panel to come out, it seems that a rail joint would have to have separated. It might be that the panel will reinsert without gluing but the rail joint or joints would need gluing. If using gorilla glue, be certain to clean off the expansion before it hardens.
If it is just one or two rail joints, I'd use epoxy. If I were gluing the perimeter of the panel I'd use carpenters alphatic resin glue such as Titebond or Elmers.
Arlyn, You apparently have the correct terminolgy for this door and the rail joint. I just got the door and rail joint home yesterday, impossible to repair while installed. I suspect the lower rail joint seperated allowing the door panel to fall out. I will get a good look later today or tomorrow....THANX for the info...
