Just switched from Windows XP to an iMac and haven't a clue how to post pictures to the Forums from iPhoto. How do I find the http://www URL property for each one to copy and paste? Help!
You cannot from iPhoto, it is on your computer, you still need to put them up on the web somewhere. Get a .mac account and it becomes simple to post them on the .mac site then you copy the url of the photo from there. You right click on the photo and a list will drop down which will allow you to select "copy image address". The trick to all of this is to get the photo alone so the address is not tied to the slideshow function. When you click on a photo it is displayed in the slideshow, click on the photo one more time and a separate window will open with a direct url to the photo. That is the photo you want to right click on to copy the address.
Merci, mi amigo! Shall stumble and fumble and eventually get it right. This iMac is truly amazing as I venture further into its "innards". What other web sites can post my downloaded pictures to, and how do I transfer them from iPhoto to the website? Thanks again.
Frank, I have a Mac and use iPhoto. I use www.shutterfly.com as the place to hold my photos online. It is free and easy to use. Once you upload to shutterfly just click on the photo. It will enlarge. Then right click and choose "copy image address" and then paste that into your forum post.
I have a preset Word document that I use for all my photo posting. It is a series of paragraphs and each is followed by the photo insert codes (from the forum). I just use that same Word document to completley prepare the post and then paste the whole document into the forum post. Very streamlined and easier than actually trying to compose on the forum itself. I'd be happy to e-mail you a copy of the Word document.
"...right click and choose "copy image address"...
Randy, I too use Shutterfly for pics I want to post on the forums, but after enlarging as you described, I right click and...nothing. I don't get "copy image address". Under a pic is: IMG_0369. JPG, and that's not the property I can copy and paste into the forum. What am I doing wrong? How do I get copy image address? Still crawling with iMac.
Finally "figgered" out how to post pics on the Forums. My Shutterfly won't work but Photobucket does...I hope, I hope, I hope. Sample pic from my archive:
So that's how you tiller guys sail! I sent you my Word document. The theory should work for Photobucket.
Shutterfly works for me. I add the photos to an album. Then I click on the first new photo which enlarges it. I right click on the enlarged photo and one of my choices is to copy the photo address. I then paste that into the appropriate spot in the Word document. Then I move on to the next photo and do the same. I am using a Mac with the latest OS and updates.
What's that white tubing under the seat? I asume the bucket is full of rode and chain? Nice idea.

Is that a cup holder mounted in front of the corner seat? Is it a flush mount, or did you drill a 3" hole in the deck?
Nothing says Chipped Gel Coat like a dangling 1" chain...The bucket is a good Idea - I think they actually sell those that way at the empire.
I don't think that is a cup holder - looks like it could be a light or a GPS Antenna (loran antenna??)
Interesting that 1 - the out board is covered and up. Did you sail out of the dock or do you pull it up and mount id on the rail every time? and 2 - that the swim ladder holding the outboard is lashed in place with just line. That is a lot of weight.
Just back from a cruise to Catalina; actually a motor boat trip: no wind. Typical Sou Cal July high pressure system. As to the pic: first, the gent in the cat bird seat ain't me; he's my sailing buddy who also owns a 250. Yeah, the "lunch hook" is mounted on the cat bird seat rail, the chain is held off the gel coat by a bungee, the chain and rode are in the white bucket. The object in front of the seat that looks like a cup holder is an adaptor for pumping out my holding tank. Since I now have a wider slip, the o/b's back on the dinghy. It's 2 horse, 4 stroke air cooled Honda that weighs all of 28 pounds. The line is securing the ladder latch. That's a solar stern light I stuck into a rod holder. As to the length of white PVC behind the seat, it's a rig for a depth/fishfinder which I've since removed.
BTW, I love my 250 but it's strictly a day sailer/overnighter. For multi-day cruising I'm gonna move up to 30 with a Yanmar diesel.
Hey, Randy, think I've learned how to post pics from Shutterfly. If I did, here's a shot of me darlin' daughter Laura:
It woiked!! With a Mac you have to do CONTROL-RIGHT CLICK to get the "copy image address" , not just right click on the enlarged photo. My learning curve's gettin' a bit less steep
Glad you got it Frank! Pretty daughter. No, I am not a dirty old man!
I don't have to use the Control key on my Mac. Wierd. But you got it working and that is the main thing. A 30 footer sounds nice, especially since you are in year-round sailing territory. In a few years you'll be in a 34!!
