I ordered a pair of plastic spreader boots from Marine.com but then they said they don't stock them anymore. Nuts.
Catalina Direct doesn't stock the plastic ones either.

I didn't really want to spend the bucks for leather boots.
What do you use?
Where do you get replacements?
I've seen some boats with little wheels up there.
Maybe I should use rigging tape and little wheels.
Ideas?
Thanks a bunch.

The spreader boots below are from Tempo's 2004 catalog, but they don't appear to be offered any more.

I did find a couple of sites that still list these parts numbers.

Interestingly, these spreader boots from Marine Max are listed under steering and engine controls.

Also, the infamous Sailnet has one size of the rubber boots.

You can order them from Fisheries Supply.

The Taylor Made ones aren't worth the money in my opinion.

I wound up buying the leather ones from WM altho I thought they were a bit pricy. Next time I will just cut the pattern and make my own. Real easy. We have a saddle shop in town that sells bits of scrap leather for a buck. Cut pattern, make some holes, sew it on. Presto two buck spreader boot.

I have something that looks identical to the picture. Could swear (who can't) that I got them from CD but I can't remember. Anyway, if you get these, you need to cut the "tape indent" where the stay goes through. Otherwise the stay does not run free. Otherwise they fit nicely. I taped it shut with rigging tape and it looks like it'll be there for a while.

The leather ones are great - throw a sponge in there for a little shape and you'll be set for a long long time.
