Well, we are about an hour from departing home to head for Anacortes and the San Juan Islands in the Puget Sound for a two week cruise. It will be our first cruise and first time in salt water and dealing with tides. I have a laptop and a subscription to a WiFi network that pretty much covers all the marinas so I'll be starting up a thread in the Cruising forum for photos. Got a lot of good cruising equipmenty tips from these forums but my guess is we'll still discover somethings!
We're doing some remote anchoring and some marinas with amenities. Two nights remote and then two nights at a marina.
I can't get the theme song from Gilligan's Island out of my head.
If anyone is heading up there here is our itinerary:
I'll be following your posts closely, as I hope to do the same trip next year about this time. (Anything to get away from the 114 degrees here in Phoenix.)
Also, thanks very much for all the links that you put into your message.
My wife said she'd like to do the San Juans next summer. We'd have to schedule this during mid-June to mid August. I'm sure there are others that might sail at the same time? We live in southern California with our boat in a slip in Mission Bay, San Diego, so the trip would be a long one. Will be following your progress.....
Was up there end of July/beginning of August, what a wonderful place to cruise. if you check this in Deer Harbor, be sure to make a stop at Jones Island on the way out- take a walk, it's beautiful. you're bound to see deer almost close enough to touch. We watched eagles fishing in the southern bay for a good 1/2 hour, amazing!
Sorry for no posts. Having WAY too much fun. Clear blue skies and temps in the 70's! We are now in Friday Harbor and hope to see Orcas in the next day or two. We are just loving the cruising life - will be hard to go back to work!
Jim, we really enjoyed Blind Bay. Will post pix upon return.
