OK. Seems that no one has a mast available for my 1998 C250WB. However, Kent, at Catalina, implied that the extrusion is the same for all C25s and C250s, which is my reason for posting in the General Forum.
Would it be possible for anyone to get me complete and exact dimensions for the mast extrusion for these masts? I need width and depth and wall thicknesses. I might have found an extrusion from a third party that would work but I need more info to be sure.
If someone could figure out the exact length for a 250 mast, that would be helpful, as well.
My mast is in a storage yard at the marina over an hour away and my micrometer is at my son's house in a box with all my reloading equipment (don't ask).
I would think (rather I know) that Catalina has all of the drawings/information you need. I know someone who recently obtained complete mast info. Call Kent back and ask him.
Better yet, call him and ask him who their supplier is and what the supplier's model number is e.g. "Dwyer DM-560" This is a production boat using production parts. I doubt that anything is "custom"
For what it's worth, Catalina Direct sells mast extrusions. A few years ago, I bought a complete new mast (including spreaders, internal halyards, lights, wiring) for around $900. I think the extrusion alone was about $600.
Thanks for the suggestions. I emailed Kent over a week ago asking for the extrusion mfg, as soon as he told me that he didn't have any. I have yet to receive a response.
In a seperate email, the same day, I ask for a quote for the mast so I could proceed with my insurance company. I have not received a response to that, either.
I called Catalina Direct, at Kent's suggestion, and they said they would order anything like that from the factory. So, since the factory has none, Catalina Direct has none.
Today I emailed Kent asking for complete mast specifications. We'll see how that goes but things don't bode well for the level of response I've received thus far.
Which is why I'm asking for assistance here.
I guess, if it comes down to it, I'll go find my micrometer and a hack saw, cut apart the bent mast I have, and start measuring. That won't happen until the weekend, though.
Just get a cross section and compare it to the Dwyer site. You won't need the micrometer, the thickness of the wall would be engineered by the manufacturer based on length and cross section design. Measure the width and length of the oval and the height of the sail slot.
