<font color="blue"><font size="4"><font face="Comic Sans MS">I took my older brother and his wife on a little tour of the San Juan islands (was under sail 60% of the time that was a rarity) in which they learned about being at the helm, tending sails and navigating with GPS and computer also this turned out to be a 12 hour plus trip.
We were under engine power, it was dark and on the last part of home port course, so I turned on all the above deck boat lights put cabin on red lights and my brother was at the helm, for at least hour plus, I was up front holding on to the jib watching for crab pots, logs and wayward kayakers. I had one arm blocking the glare from the bow light and the other arm blocking the harbor light glare and he was doing fine rounding buoys and setting new courses with computer GPS then I ....WATCH OUT FOR THAT WING WALL STARBOARD SIDE... at Sept 6 2007 21:34:56 last reading on computer we hit the wall.
No injuries no water below deck so we went to the bow we could not pull the anchor out from the wing wall so He cut the anchor rope and I piloted us back to the slip.
Ask my brother later what happened and he said he got disorientated... probably too much brightness on computer screen and he had not sailed at night before, where as I had many times before so we should have taken 15 minutes shifts, but I got lulled into this situation because he was doing so well.
Boat is still in dry dock waiting for parts and some fiberglass work.

Glad nobody was hurt, and no holes below the waterline! Looks like the damage is only on deck... Things are harder to see on the water at night than most people would imagine--especially with a GPS screen in front of you. Tough lesson. Nice pix and chart, though--thanks!
