Hi, I have a 25 swing keel, which I plan on trailering back to my driveway next week, can anybody out there tell me how far the keel will be down when I have it cranked up all the way as I have never seen the bottom of my boat yet, its been in the water since I bought it, this summer.. According to the specs Ive seen its 2.8 ft, does this mean I can use a conventional trailer?? no one around here seems to know what kind of trailer I can use, etc,, thanks send me your phone so I can call you and discuss this if you dont mind, thanks
Where are you located? In in the Southeast Texas area. I have a trailer you can look at. Its actually the one listed in the swap section for $1250. The pictures will give you a good idea of the clearance needed. My keel on the trailer had about 3 inches to spare fully cranked up. http://www.catalina-capri-25s.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=15871
wow, wish I was there, I live in NJ, ,, a little to far to go pick it up, I will look at the pictures though to get an idea of what I need, thanks appreciate it,,
I don't have my trailer here for measurements, but you can call if you choose this weekend.
Keep in mind that the 2'8" is from the waterline, not from the bottom centerline. I presume that you are renting or borrowing a trailer - a roller rather than bunk system would be nice. The keel protrudes about a foot along its length when retracted, and is then lowered into a bow pad on the trailer center bar.
