Does anyone have a trailer that they could measure the distance from centerline between the axles to the centerline distance to the support pads. I also would like the widths of the pad placement front and rear. I have a dual axle trailer that has been used on a San Juan 24 but need to set it up for a Capri 25. I have seen pictures but am not sure about the distances. Any help would be appreciated greatly!
raise the front and rear pads 6" and the boat will fix perfectly , I have an old sj24 trailer that our Capri 25 sits on it does have a solid front pad, the bulkheads sit right at the pads on the trailer
I have checked further and the trailer has a San Juan 24 on it but it is not a trailer for a San Juan 24. I Have looked at it and it fits rather strangely. Scary actually. Here are some pictures. I have seen the plan posted for a ladder on the front. I think I will add that while I am modding the trailer.
I have a "Trail-rite" trailer set up for the Capri 25. It is here at my home without the boat on the trailer. I will email you a pic and I'll be happy to measure or photo anything you want and send to you if you think it will help.
That would be great. If the trailer is a dual axle please measure from the center, between the two axles (centerline of the trailer front to back)to the center of the front pads. A measurement from the same centerline of axles to the back pads also please. If the trailer is a single axle please measure from the middle of the single axle. With those measurements complete I would like the measurement for the distance between the pads on the front and the distance between the rear pads (side to side). Thanks for all the help guys!
If you make these measurements, would you please post here as well? I know I'm interested in knowing these numbers for a "real" trailer (mine's not), and others probably are as well.
Trail-rite is the company that makes all the trailers for Catalina so the measurements and pictures from that would be perfect. I am in the progress of purchasing my first Capri 25! The third from the last one made, I am very excited. I have owned an 87 Capri 22 and a 98 Capri 23.5. I really liked the 22, the 23.5 was the one made with a large keel and took too much water to float (during drought) for the lakes in the Dallas area here in Texas, 6'7" Draft. But, the 23.5 was one FUN boat! I have pictures of both here if anyone is interested. http://web.mac.com/rickhardin/Site/Capri_22.html http://web.mac.com/rickhardin/Site/Capri_23.5.html
OK Guys, I've got a regatta this weekend, but I'll find time next week for some measurements and photos to post. The only place I see to post photos on this site is in the Gallery. Is there another place better?
I have emailed pics and drawings to the this Website for posting wherever they deem appropriate. If anyone would like the .pdf files or .jpg's quicker just email me and I'll reply. Note that my trailer had some descrepancies in symmetry, but nothing more than 1" or 3 degrees. Where descrepancies occured I averaged the number for the diagram. Also note that my keel support channel had a 1 1/2" "sag" or "bow" in it. I included this in my measurements, but I do not think this was by design, I think it is probably age or use/abuse.
Joe! These are amazingly detailed drawings. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. This is going to be so much help. I am leaving Thursday afternoon and will be tweaking the trailer before leaving. My hope is to have the boat just drop right on the trailer without too much adjustment. With the boat being 1800 miles away that would have been difficult. I think with all the detail you have provided, that will be easy. Now, if I can just make it 1800 miles BACK to Texas after the pickup, all will be well.
