Paul, as soon as I saw these indispensable items I immediately ordered 4 for my truck + 4 for the trailer. I imagine that the guy who invented these must be a multi millionaire by now. What a wonderful idea!

I wonder if they also make an antenna protector for my truck?

Paul, I just realized that you may have been serious about this product. I was just playing along based on the assumption that you were making a joke. Maybe the product makes sense in your region for some reason unkown to me. Please accept my apology if that was the case. This is the problem with these internet forums where we miss cues such as body language, tone, and other non verbal cues.

No problem: JD has sat alongside the house for about 2months in the hot and sunny florida sun. I read about folks trailer tyres suffering and had been thinking of shading them for some time.

These covers are $15.99 for a set of 4 but I have a coupon for $8.00 off that!

They sell Disposable Stubby Antenna protectors at CVS!

Never heard them described quite like that before.

Covering your trailer tires is an excellent idea. We get as much or more sunshine here than anywhere else in North America...and it doesn't matter what the outside or ambient temperature is - direct sun degrades tires. Also, the snow/rain/ice that we get over the course of the next 6 months (until the next sailing season) is a viscious cycle of freezing-melting-expansion-contraction....this cycle affects your tires and your mechanical components.
My tires are covered for the winter. ($19.95 set of 4 at Cdn Tire)

When putting his boat to bed for the winter, my Dad always blocked up the trailer and removed the tires then stored them in the garage so as to get them out of the sunlight and to prevent the tires from getting a flat spot. He'd also cover the exposed hubs with garbage bags.

I have my trailer on blocks so there's no weight on the tires.

So, (not that I want to keep my trailer stationary for that long) but what do you guys do? Do you jack the trailer and insert blocks or do you backup a skid/rocker onto the blocks? And are they literally blocks (concreate)?

I'll take a picture and post it here shortly.

The trailer is completely blocked because it will sit in one spot for six months. I made nine 'pedestals' out of 2X4's and 2X6's to support the axles and frame and the keel. My boat is at the lake, a 45 minute drive from home, so I have to make sure it is left in a condition best suited for survival of a Canadian winter.

I buy lots of 'stuff' at HF, but better tire covers can be had a Camping World.

Bert, yes they are nice covers ... $100 plus for a set of 4 The HF items turned out to be $16 for 2 sets. They are cheap (and are cheap if you know what I mean) but they sure cover the tires.

Paul,

Don't know which ones you are checking, but I've gotten two sets at two different times for under $20 each. The quality is much better than the ones at HF.
