I own a 1980 Johnson 9.9 OB that came with my boat. Does anyone know if this thing is supposed to put out a charge? Does it have an alternator or some sort of magneto system??

This company sells manuals for engines. This would tell you for sure. And if not, it'll have the part numbers so you can add one.

You mighttry a library, they usually have outboard maintainance manuals
