Everybody talks about the weather, but nodody does anything about it.
Well folks, we've been talking about the ill effects of global warming, so I've posted a headline from a National Newspaper to show you southeners what we hardy Canucks are doing about it.
BITTER BLUE COLD FRONT MOVES IN
No more Mr. Nice Guy: Old Man Winter is back After two of the warmest winters on record, freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall will make this a season to remember
<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">The season will also be long, with early forecasts calling for a colder-than-normal spring, as well.
San Antonio forecast for tomorrow: 82 degrees and bright sunshine...I feel sorry for you Northerners - I've been there, done that and didn't enjoy my 18 winters!
<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">Time to put snow tires on the trailer and head south for the winter.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">
<font size="2">Oh no you don't Stampeder, that's what caused Global Warming in the first place, all them Northerners heading south for the winter.</font id="size2">
<font size="1">Can you pick me up on you're way past?</font id="size1">
Don't mean to rub it in but it was 82 degrees yesterday and probably close to 85 today. Had a nice sail on Galveston Bay yesterday with 10 - 12 knots and 1 foot waves. Low last night was in the upper 60's. Slept on the boat with the fan running all night. Last weekend there were people swimming in the pool at the club. I can't believe it's this warm in early December even for Houston.
I got lucky this year as I just bought my boat about 6 weeks ago and I've been able to go out every weekend since I bought it. I'm sure that now that I've said that I won't see warm weather for the next 4 or 5 months and I won't go out if it's cold!
Cold is nice! Crisp night skies, cool daytime breezes, extra blanky on board, bug count lowest of the year. But.. we have to wait till Jan 3rd before our next 4 night trip down to Biscayne Bay just south of Miami.
Iam in SoCal and nights and mornings are cold(to me) but supposed to get 80's in daytime. Thats tooo hot for me. Like Paul, I like it cooler. BTW, I bought a Prius so I am contributing to lowering Global Warming, thank you very much! Steve A
Ha, I'm just worried about getting home tonight. Three of the rivers predicted for extreme flooding are along my path. The Snohomish, the Skykomish and the Snoqualmie. I don't have to cross the Snoqualmie, but it runs along about half my drive home. The Tolt (below) drains into the Snoqualmie, the Snoqualmie and the Skykomish drain into the Snohomish which is my first hurdle tonight. Then the Skykomish, which is coming up at about 4000CFS more an hour (currently, it'll probably get higher faster as the night wears on). Last year around this time, the Snoqualmie turned my town into an island for three days, the only way in or out was by boat or helicopter.
Here's the latest warning:

It's as little hard for me to believe here in Little Rock, but last week we had two days of 60-65 with 8-12 southerly winds on an east west oriented lake. Sorry guys. That said, the happiest day of my life, I believe, might have been February 5, 1977, the day I left Darien, CT on a transfer to Puerto Rico. I sat in the Holiday Inn in San Juan with a six pack and watched TV coverage of the Long Island Expressway and just hugged myself and giggled like a madman.
They say we're supposed to get some light snow here in northern VA tomorrow. We had some strong winds, gusting to 40+ mph last night with temperatures in the high 30s. I definitely wouldn't want to be on the bay in those conditions.
Those conditions Dan mentions in the NW, gusts to 58 kts and 43' waves must be scary!
I'll be heading down to Tucson, AZ on the 14th-23rd this month for business. It should be a bit warmer out there compared to home. Too bad I can't sail out there.

Sounds like old times, I grew up in Snohomish and it seemed like the Snohomish river flooded once or twice every year. Was usually good for a couple days off school because the bus couldn't get through near the Pilchuck river. At least now when it floods here in Punta Gorda we get credit for a Hurricane. Sure hope everone makes it through OK.
So far only one bridge is out in Duvall (my town), but the water levels are still rising. I think the crest has already passed upstream in Carnation, but it's possible that 203 will still be flooded on my way home tonight. Last night's commute was so-so, everyone had to slow down to watch them stage the big crane they use to fend off logs coming down the Snohomish under the SR 2 trestle, but traffic to SR9 was mostly cut off at I-405 & SR522 because the approach ramps to 522 were underwater. That meant that there was little traffic getting to 203 from 2 which was actually kind of nice.
Oh, and it's sunny here now, actually a quite nice day if a bit blustery.
<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">Hmmmmmm . . . 3 inches of snow last night and more to come today. <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">
Yeah, but that's lake effect snow. That what's they tell me anyway, like it different than regular snow? I still gotta shovel it out of the driveway. I moved to Michigan from Long Beach CA. I told my wife that I liked the four seasons. What was I thinking? She tends to remind of saying that when I'm running the snow blower.
