Wow! Automatic sails! We just had our first sail with the main halyard led aft--a few screaming reaches in 15-17 knots yesterday... No skinned knees and no hanging onto the mast as the boat pounds over big stinkpot wakes! Then the best part--we rolled up the genny, started the motor, pointed up, released the main halyard, and after the sail came 3/4 down, pulled the dousing line from the cockpit to yank it the rest of the way. One sail tie from the companionway, and we were ready to head to the slip. Wonderful!
Now, I need to finish running the reefing line back, and then rig some lazy jacks, and we're golden!
BTW, others have mentioned the cordage prices at Sailnet (5/16" Sta Set for $.29 vs. $.69 at West). I checked at my local West store, and they said if I brought in the printed invoice from Sailnet, showing the shipping cost included, they'd match the total (plus add sales tax). I did, and they did! Saved a nice chunk on 90 feet.
