On my factory original main the sail slugs at the battens are attached with what appears to be a web strap that has been sewn down.

Is there an alternate slug attachment method that can be used? None of the slug shackles that I have or have looked at will work.

My preference would be to get away from the web strap to something that would be easier to repair on the water if needed.

Doug,

Does your sail have grommets? If so, you might be able to use sail shackles and protectors.

Thanks.

Yes, where grommets are located I am using the standard shackle assy as in your picture.

It is only where the battens are that they are attached using the web strap material. Sailrite has a video that shows the webbing being used. They mention special ordering possibilities for a shackle in place of the webbing. I was hoping someone had already solved this and could hook me up with a source for a shackle that would work in place of the webbing.
