Dear Fellow Cat 25 owners: After over 27 years of being a City Manager in small cities in Michigan and putting with fickle elected officials and outraged citizens being victimized by code enforcement (that was for you Steve M I have decide to change careers and have been arm twisted to accept the General Manager position at Port Superior Marina www.portsuperior.com I know it will be tough but they will provide me a slip somewhere and since the majority of members are rag baggers I might fit in. I will probably have to take time off now and then and sail in the pristine waters of the Apostle Islands but someone has to do these things or they will go wanting. I will continue to seek your wisdom through one of the finest sailing web sites ever. I take on this heavy burden with an open heart. Capt Ron
Captain... Our deepest sympathies and warmest hopes that you will find light in the darkness... (I know the sun hardly breaks the horizon up there about now!)
What a great duty! I sailed out of that marina one time. I trailered my boat from Lincoln, NE up there and had a wonderful week stay in the Apostles. I must say that the folks at that marina were very friendly and helpful. I hope that your sojourn there will be rewarding. rest assured that one day i will be calling you for a reservation for your Travelift.
Have you taken leave of your senses? Why would you want to leave a cushy job where all the members of your staff want your job, and think they can do it better than you, you can convict a slum lord before noon, demolish an old lady's rental duplex in the afternoon, have a quick, late dinner with your wife, and then attend a council meeting to face 150 angry citizens protesting the proposed new Wal Mart, get mis-quoted by the press, and then go home to find the protesters have gathered around the entrance to your driveway? Are you nuts? Stay with the job that you love!
I've heard great things about that Marina. Good luck with the new gig.
We sail our boat out of Ashland, WI, about 13 miles South of Port Superior. We absolutely love the area. It's hard to beat for cruising. Even though the water is cold enough to keep the beer cold in August, there are still some beaches that offer good swimming. And those black flies can be a pain... It is a spectacular cruising grounds! Crystal clear water and beautiful scenery.
Does anyone else sail out of the Apostles? It would be fun to meet up some time.
