Scooter, No Bahama trip for me this year, but if I get my house sold here in Atlanta and get moved to Belhaven this spring like planned, maybe we can do a Ocracoke trip.
Ocracoke is a straight shot for us and a nice day sail out. We're up Bay river about 3-4 mile from the ICW. If you're lucky you can have a downhill run out and a day or two later a downhill run back.
We pack our folding bikes and go out and about. There are marinas to tie up to. Great place to go. It's a perfect long weekend trip. We are in a group that goes there every Memorial Day. They mostly have larger boats but it's a good group of people. They also go to Cape Lookout every Labor day. You have to bring everything with you (No stores, no nothing but a lighthouse).
Just beware, it's shallow around Ocracoke. It's a forgiving bottom though. Nothing but sand.
