Is there a hoist on SF Bay that can handle our boats that is reasonable? Well, I'm making plans. We hope to get a cruise to the coast and visit Eureka soon and hope to meet up with Clam Beach. I have, shoveled snow, chipped ice today so our Forum keeps me warm. I guess the cabin fever is after the members from all the tidbits I read tonight. I actually got on the boat today and started on my Spring ready list. Would like to visit SF bay this Spring so will post on the cruising Forum.
C'mon over... The boat is sitting in the water and is just begging to be sailed. It's been a bit of a rotten winter over here on the beach too, but at least we aren't shovelling snow and chipping ice.
Fleet 7 San Diego had a wonderful sailing weekend, temps in the 80s, good wind about 10 knots. Lots of dolphins. I flew my spin single handed for hours. Photos to come soon!
while people are planning on visiting each other. why don't you take time off from your 80 degree weather and single handing spinnaker to help me get the sleet of my driveway??
i had a meeting in far southern illinois last nite and drove home about 900pm.
started out in carbondale at SIUC with about 3 inches of ice. drove north west for about 100 miles in heavy freezing rain till i got home.
yea, i probably will go out today and singlehand a snow shovel.
i like doing that down wind in 18 degrees.
mostly likely race my neighbor to a see who can get their car to the street first.
you guys have fun sailing!!!!!!!!

Dear friends, we too are enjoying the weather here in Canada. No snowshoe hares spotted yet this winter. I have had to chip the ice off the bird feeder. Last night the woodstove barely kept up with the -30 celcius temps and high winds.
Here are observation at 7:00 this morning... 7:00 AM Temp: -12 °F / -25 °C -->76% Humidity -->Barom: 30.43 in / 1030 hPa --> Winds ENE 3.5 mph / 5.6 km/h
As you can see, the winds are a little on the light side for sailing right now.
I just shook the leaves and junk out of our dock circulators so they'd keep the ice from pulling our pilings up with the tide... The ducks love our little hole in the ice!
I know there's a hoist at the Berkeley Marina operated by the Berkeley Marine Center. I haven't used a hoist so I don't know what "reasonable" would be. It depends where on the SF Bay you want to visit. I found this website that has Marina's and Boat Yards > http://www.boatingsf.com/index.php
I use the launch ramp in Richmond's Marina Bay Yacht Harbor Send me an e-mail if you have questions. I would like to meet you and can provide some "Local Knowledge"
I really want to make it over to sail in Eureka, thanks for the invite. Will let you know the schedule when I know it. March is our target. Thanks Russ for your info and will work on your suggestion. Looked at the site and have called around and got the $200 to $250 fee for launching. Have to consider putting the EZ loader in the salt water to keep within the budget. Takes a washing after the ramp launch.
Sweetcraft Jim, just thought I would do my part in trying to help keep you warm... with regard to your question about launching in S.F.Bay. I have used Marina Bay Richmond many times and it is good spot and there is ample room to park vehicle and trailer. Take a look at the Chico Yacht Club web site and if you can get on their forum someone with up to date knowledge may be able to help you with your original question. Click on current yacht club messages at bottom of page and see if you can register and ask your question. By the way I am writing this from my trailer on the banks of the Colorado River near Parker,Az. We kayak up and down river enjoy bike rides and hike. Its 78deg.today It beats doing that snow shovel thing at my house. I understand we had 5ft of snow on our roof last week. Take care, Dave
Boy, Dave, rub it in about the snow. Will try your suggestion too. Yes I know you are in the warmer weather as we have family near you and they like to let us know the temperature. Thanks for the info. See you in the Spring.
