Thanks to everybody who advised on the 'mini locker'! I have added a photo, (courtesy of my son!) showing the result. Not as grand as some beautiful teak ones posted, but it works. The little dinghy hatch you can see is the access to the water tank outlet. Obviously,the tank is moulded into the V-berth on this 1979 model. Regards, Pete.
I found this an interesting topic as well. I've been using my Vberth for sleeping. But this year I'm modifying my cabin so that I can use a queen size mattress - which will allow me to use the Vberth as a sail locker. I bought a new Hank-on jib, which I plan on stowing in the Vberth - the idea being - I'll open the forward hatch and push the sail into the Vberth so I don't have to flake the sail tightly or stuff it into a sail bag. I'll get rid of the Vberth cushions and modify the Vberth to accomodate sails and other stowable gear.
