CDI recommends a toggle at the top of the forestay to avoid the problem encountered in the link below. However if you look at the bend in the forestay in the picture you can see that it was caused by the extrusion not reaching the top of the forestay so pressure was exerted directly onto the wire rather than the metal eye piece. If you cut your extrusion to the proper length it will fit all of the way to the top and minimize the chance of the bent wire. I, and others, did this and have not encountered the depicted problem. The next time you drop the mast you can add the toggle but it may require shortening, or replacing, the forestay. I don't know why any more pressure would be exerted by a proper length extrusion then a hank on jib.
If you have a digital camera take zoom in on the top of your mast and take a picture then download to your computer. If you use Microsoft Photo Editor or something similar you can zoom in on the picture and see what you have.
