How's the weather in your neck of the woods ? Anyone sailing ? I will be in the Bremerton area from 30Mar (Sunday) till morning of 4April (Friday). I may be there early enough on Sunday if anyone cares to have me as a shipmate for 2-3 hours. I probably will be making my plane arrangements tomorrow and so not sure right now when i will get into Seattle.
Larry, About 45° with wind & tiny hail about an hour ago here in Everett, maybe 60 miles north or so from Bremerton. March isn't exactly the best time of year to visit here, the weather usually can't decide if it still wants to be winter or stick with spring. If I recall we had a pretty good snowstorm last year on April 6th.
Our boat's still parked at the side of the house, with wires hanging everywhere on the inside while I rip out and fix the PO's electrical and install all the new toys (radio, GPS, auto pilot, solar charger, etc.), otherwise I'd offer you a sail.
I live in Everett, 30 miles North of Seattle and Nautilus is in the Port of Everett marina ready to sail. [It's too bad you won't be here this Saturday as we have a 7 hour mid-distance race starting in Posession Sound @ 10am.] Anyway, we could go out either Sunday, Wed or Thurs afternoon. Email me and we can set something up.
David, do you moore your boat in Everett? I'm in H54 on the South side if you want to check her out sometime.
I think I will select an early 30Mar (Sunday) morning flight out of the Northern VA area and see if I can get out there around 12noon. Then if anything materializes, I can meet up and check into the hotel closer to dinner time. Last time I was out to that area, during the 1 or 2 weekday late afternoons, I wound up stopping at a few marina areas to see what I could see and just rode around for awhile. During weekdays....I will be busy till at least 330pm Mon-Wed. Thursday..there is no possibility of leaving early. I will be lucky to escape by 6pm and could be much later. Friday.... I get out early around 930am or earlier but then I will be heading for Seattle and flying home. If it was in the summer and a greater chance of getting together, then I would catch a red eye Friday night and get back home Saturday AM.
Bremerton may be a bit far from you guys. But the only thing I would want to do on Sunday is to check into the hotel ...not too late. I am going to try and make my arrangements tomorrow and then I should have a better idea of just when I am arriving into the Seattle Airport.
What's happening in Bremerton ?
I am participating in an audit of a bigger boat......@ the SY.
I made my arrangements. The plane is scheduled to arrive in Seattle just after 1100am on Sunday, 30Mar, and then I get the rental car. As we approach next Sunday, I'll see how the weather shapes up for Sunday and then see if any options work out for an afternoon visit.
Josh, We actually keep SL at Jim Clark Marina pretty much right underneath the West Seattle bridge south of Seattle. However, I do work in Everett, not very far from your marina, maybe I can come down some afternoon & take a look at your boat?
Probably still too early to see what exactly the weather will be like this Sunday afternoon and if any of us would be able to meet up based on your schedules. David, your boat is not in the water yet ? Doing any maintenance on it this weekend ?
Larry, You're correct our boat's still on the side of the house. I hope to finish up wiring the new radio / GPS / autopilot this weekend, and maybe get the bow roller installed if it's nice outside. However, they're predicting rain & snow, so I'm not hopeful. I also still need to get my compression post back in the boat after letting the overhead dry for several weeks.
It looks like things not going to work out - I may be able to hook up with you guys some other time. Josh has to go to in-laws this Sunday and Dave your boat is on the side of the house. Anyway, I may take a leisurely ride over to Bremerton for the day.
