I have a Magma propane grill that I really like...except...I can't get the rail-mount clamp (the one that clamps around the rail and tightens with a short SS lever) to hold the grill securely. I've tried a few things but so far everything just slides around on the rail. Has anyone else had this trouble and how did you overcome it? I'd like to be able to secure the grill for a weekend cruise and not have to worry about it moving around. Thanks,
Make a couple of wraps around the rail with old fashioned cloth friction tape (it's still available at auto parts stores) or try cutting 100 grit sand paper in thin strips and putting it in the clamp with the rough side to the rail.
I bought an extra flat mount fixture and put it on my RV so I can use my boat bbq on the road.
Dennis, Thanks, I'll give that a whirl. I used the same grill on my Rhodes 22 but since I didn't have a stern rail I used another mounting bracket to secure the grill to the boat. I also have the legs for the grill so I can take it on camping trips and other "landbased" outings. Thanks for the help. Nate
I use the same rail mount. They come in two sizes. You may have bought the larger unit.
Make sure you're using the correct size. I originally bought one that was too large; exchanged it for the smaller one. Smaller one works fine. Clamps straight on to my rail.
