Happy is correct, butane is heavier than air. The only options that are lighter than air are alcohol and CNG. CNG is also difficult to obtain in the U.S. and virtually impossible to find outside the U.S. Here is a write-up on the Boat U.S. website about the various choices of fuels and their benefits and drawbacks.
Chris, I will have to check when I am at the boat. Should be soon though. It was already installed when I bought it. The PO thinks it is a coleman, but in the tech tips one of them shows as an Igloo top. Basically, you take some starboard to fashion a top over the cooler area, then a smaller opening for the thermo top.
I'm planning on replacing my alcohol stove with a one burner portable propane. Doe anybody know:If I cook in the cockpit( Seat area or cockpit sole) is it pretty safe to say the propane fumes won't drift down to the cabin?
