My sail cover is in good shape. Nothing wrong, just the color. A new one is $379 at CD ; but why buy new? I'm looking for a dark-green or forest-green color. I'll pay shipping for both.

Anyone ever make one? I'm looking for the same thing but can't bring myself to replace a functional gray cover at that price. Although it's not in the best of conditions, it's still functional. I just wonder if Sunbrella can be sewn with your basic garage sale sewing machine.

I want it to match my new Forest Green headsail cover.

There is a sail-cover maker here in PDX, but I would venture to say having them make one is gonna be slightly more expensive than one "ready to go" from CD.

Yea, but you'll appreciate the value of the one you made much more!

If you have a local Marine Flea Market, keep your eyes peeled for Sunbrella, I purchased an 'end of roll', got a really good deal. Still have some left and am looking at making a cover for our new solar panel (on off switch )

After putting it off for the last couple of years, I think I'm going to finally pull the trigger on a new sail cover. The Sail Warehouse has one for $195.00 that is constructed the way I prefer, twist fasteners on the boom and mast.

I just came from the fabric store. They didn't have the Sunbrella to match my headsail but, it's available special order, I guess. The prices were a lot more than I expected. They ranged from $29/yard to $59/yard for the samples they had. At those prices, plus the cost of a sewing machine, I might as well buy one and save myself the pain of sewing lessons.

Dan and Beth,
Sounds like you put a lot of care into your sewing projects - undoubtedly will pay back in the long run. What did you use for a pattern for your sail cover? Any pics? Any other sewing projects in the works?
I just purchased a 40+ year old, but very well made, Singer that I hope to keep me busy next winter - my wish-list of projects is growing although I need to start out with something relatively simple.

Here is a link that contains images of my green sail cover. I've placed a tape measure at various points so you can get a handle on size. You may need to right click on the image and save as a .jpg on your desktop so that you can zoom in more to see the dimensions.

I am getting a new main and likely will get a cover with it if yours does not look clean enough. Did you send or upload pictures?

thanks

Charlie

The pic looks great, if you could get some measurements to me so I can compare, our boats are a bit different.

Lee, I'm not sure I'm in love with that color of green. I've been thinking about it and if I'm gonna make a trade, I'd like it to be something I really like and something that I can live with. I was looking for a dark or forest green. :( Sorry.
