My IdaSailor seems to steer the boat where I want it to go.

But seriously, I like the idea of a solid HDPE rudder after reading so much about laminated or encased rudders with some kind of core that absorbs water and subsequently splits and fails.

Stallion: Are you biding on the C-25 rudder for sale on Ebay? If yes, I won't bid. Two days left on the auction - current bid is about $35. Seller estimates shipping at $75.

That rudder on ebay looks like it might be damaged. Beware of old rudders with splits. They have wood cores which can rot. Then they snap off at the waterline at the worst posible moment. I know....

Rudders are like propane tanks... They never break when you aren't using them, and propane tanks always run out when you are cooking.

I have a 1985, but just finished refinishing my old rudder and adding a brand new tiller. Otherwise, I would have tried to deal.

Looks like the rudder sold for $237.50. I didn't bid because I was only marginally interested, and Sat. I was in Dayton, OH looking at a trailer, which I did buy.
