OK, so we've got the new 3db antenna installed and the new 8rx cable run through the mast...with the gold pin connectors, wire-ties, shrink wrap, silicone, etc...however, the boat is about 50 yards from where the mast is stored at the yard...any ideas on how to test the continuity of the connectors/cable/antenna without having the radio available?
Short the pin to the shield at one end and measure resistance pin to shield at the other. This will only confirm continuity and resistance. RF impedance is a different issue, but if nothing is shorted (pin to shield should be open before you short it, pin to mast and shield to mast should also be open) and you have quality components, you should be fine. It can get a lot more complex, but it doesn't need to.
