Has anyone attempted to make new cushions for the cabin, V-berth, etc.? Mine are so old the fabric has dried out, and just leaning an elbow on them makes the fabric separate. I have used the search feature on the forum but didnt find anything. Any help would be appreciated

Scott -- Many have made their own cushions and if you search through all forums and include archives tehir are some threads that explain what is involved. Two other sources are going to your local marine/auto upholsterer and order a customset or go to Catalina Yachts (not Catalina Direct) who provides replacements for our boats.
If you have any talent with a sewing machine, you can do it. It is not difficult and Sailrite has on oline videos that will guide you through it. I have made all of mine and they look pretty nice. The pics were posted on this site some time back. Do a search and you will find them.
Agree with Peter's response: We have discussed this recently in other postings/Forum Sections so do a Search; Check locally; Check w/ Catalina Yachts that some others have gone thru and they provided support for the older boats.
Another option is to go with a mattress company that fulfills orders on-line. I did that recently for my extended bunk project. There are some downsides going this route. You have to make sure they fully undersatnd the dimensions, etc of the cushions. You may have to forgo those notches or etc other custom features that the existing cushions have unless you can adequately provide the information in detailed sketches or a template of the cushions you want made up. You have to ensure that the cushion fabric willbe of the proper firmness for your satisfaction. They may provide you some samples thru the mail or you have to just take your chances reading the descriptions of their options. Their on-line forms may be acceptable to oder your cushions but if not, then you need to fax or get your sketches/template to them and then discuss which may rack up some long distance phone call time.
Having said all that and a number of phone calls, etc, I was pleased with the mattress sections I had custom made by Knox Foam: http://www.knoxfoam.com/store/home.php
Here is the finished product(s). Some details on my website. This was made in Medium Firm foam and a Microfiber covering:
If the cushions inside the fabric are in good shape, you can take them to an upholsterer and have new covers made. I did this with the cushions on my 1982 C-25 and they turned out great. It ran about $500. Good luck!
Thanks to all. It has been a season since I used the forum site, and forgot how to use the search. (I first used the google search on the left side of the page instead of the internal search that searches the archives). as always, an incredible resource. Thanks again to all.
