I really like those Blue Performance Products Sail Clips, and they're on sale right now at Westmarine.com. However, I don't have the boat, yet, so I don't know what size to order.

Can anyone tell me the appropriate size (length) for sail ties for a C-250 SR? The choices are: 9.5", 13", 19" or 14-23". I use the 9.5" clips on my Catalina-18, and they're just about right - maybe even a little long.

Thanks!

I use 8" bungee loops with a ball on one end. You slip the loop of the bungee over the ball after wrapping it around the sail. Bought 'em 10 for a Dollar at the local discount store. Work great and if one falls overboard, I'm out a dime.

We use brightly colored sail ties (webbing) that are about 6' long with a loop in one end. I just reach around the sail on the boom pass the bitter end through the loop and pull then a second (half hitch) further aft. The bright colors makes them easy to find in the canvas bag.

We use sail ties with velcro. Very easy.

John, I hate to say this but the Chapman's Guide strongly recommends against bungee for sail ties. Those little balls are at eye hit and pose a real danger if one gets away from you.

Since I raise my main at the mast, I simply take the tail of my main halyard and put about three or so wraps along the length of flaked main then secure it near the clew with a half hitch. Takes all of 10 seconds to do, no messing with a handful of ties, and it won't fall over the side.

I ordered a 30' roll of 1" webbing on ebay for about $7 plus shipping, and cut the lengths I needed. Gave me enough material for sail ties for both boats. I like the webbing because I think it is easier on the sail fabric than bungees. They are also easy to clean, if needed. I think I cut them 3', 3', and 4' for the C-22 and 3', 4', and 5' for the C-25. total, 22' and still have 8' left.
