Hello All, I've read this forum daily for two years and have gained an unbelieveable amount of knowledge pertaining to the Catalina 250 and sailing in general, now I am finally going to do my first post to the forum. I purchased a 1996 C250 WB Hull #209 in March (YEA!!!) and have spent the past 6 weeks trying to clear away enough snow from my yard to bring my boat home. I've finally gotten enough snow removed to fit the boat in my yard. The boat is on a Trailrite trailer (14 inch wheels) but the brakes were removed by the previous owner. The boat is located south of Boston Mass and I live in Maine which means a fairly long haul and not a lot of options to avoiding the crazy traffic of Boston. A friend of mine owns a car transport ramp truck and has offered to haul the boat on his ramp if it will fit, but I need to know the width of the trailer at the wheels to determine if it will fit on the ramp width wise and also the height of the boat at the highest point while on the trailer to know if it will be within DOT maximum height limits once loaded on the ramp truck. A total length of the boat and trailer would also be helpful. I called the yacht broker but he stated he was out straight and wouldn't be able to get me any measurements for several weeks and it would be 300 miles round trip for me to go down and take the three measurements, so I was just wondering if any of you would happen to have the measurements that I am looking for. Thanks in advance for any information any of you can give me.

First, the previous owner was an idiot to remove the brakes. Good for you to not try to tow without brakes.
Are you going to add brakes yourself? If you are mechanically inclined it is not a hard project. I would strongly recommend disk brakes. I posted in this forum about my project of putting disk brakes on a C250 trailer. If you take that route I'd be happy to provide info about parts, suppliers, tips, etc.
Scott, great pics on your site.. When we were in Maine a few years back (Portland, Ogunquit, etc) we enjoyed visiting several of the lighthouses you photographed.
Hi Scott, Glad to see another Mainer joining our ranks! I live in Gorham and sail on Long Lake in Bridgton. I own a 2001 250wk. I bought mine off a dealer down on the Cape and towed it back home. That was fun!!! I travel to South Boston quite a bit as our daughter lives there and find as long as it is not rush hour, it really is not that bad as long as you take it easy. If you need anything, let me know.
