I need to replace the jib sheets. Anyone have a Lewmar 16ST winch and have a favorite line that works well with that winch? Our old line that came with the boat was the fat soft type of line. Feels nice in the hands but doesn't work well with the winch and self-tailing. Suggestions?

We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.

Randy,

My '89 has Lewmar 16 self tailing winches. This winter I bought a Quantum Main and 150 Genoa. I also bought new lines for both sails. The thing about getting new sheets is that you want a line that has low stretch and is not too stiff. (Hopefully, also not too expensive.) I think there are a number of good choices. Based on my review of charts indicating stretch and also recommendations for jib sheets on other websites and here, I went with the following from Defender.com back in Jan'08:

SAMSON XLS EXTRA T 3/8" PER FT $1.10

I changed my jib sheets out last Fall with StaSet X 3/8" from WM. Works well on my Lewmar 16ST. I like the feel of the larger diameter line.
