For the fun of it, I tried to get a quote from Progressinve for a 44' sailboat (one of my dream boats).

After filling out all of their online form, they report they are unable to provide a quote for a vessel longer than 35'

I wonder if that's a Florida thing. Haven't I read about difficulties getting insureance down there?

I know insuring homes and business is difficult if you live too close to the water but I had no problems getting a quote for Bamboo. The deal breaker is that they wanted a thousand per year. Did you try several carriers Paul?

Had boat US...they wanted over 600.00 for the season last year, an increase of almost 300.00 and I never had a claim. Went to the guy who does my homeowners and auto and he got me a deal for about 400 that has considerably greater coverage.
