I am looking at an 8' slip for my catalina for the summer. The question I have is...does anyone know how wide a catalina 25 is at the widest point.

8', by spec. (The rubrails might add an inch and a half.)

8' boat in an 8' slip would be mighty tight when it bounces a little

I have never heard of an 8' slip, you might want to confirm what they mean by that.

Around where we are, they usually mean depth, for those fin keel people

They might mean the maximum beam the slip is intended for.

I would think Marinas with slips specifically for boats 22' and under would be rare, how would they make enough money?
Brad one thing is for sure, a bad slip is better than no slip at all. Dock rollers are made for a reason.

My first question about a small slip would be water depth. Small slips are generally designated for smaller powerboats.

Just as important is depth. Especially if you are on
coastal waters and have high and low tides. Here on the
Gulf a hard north wind will blow the water out and you could
lose 3 feet of depth overnight. Reverse is true during a
hurricane or tropical storm, tidal surge could be 5 plus
feet.

Thanks to all who had ideas...As it turned out the slip was only 7'8" wide. The only way it would work is if I pulled in really fast...Not a good idea. the search for a new home for Jolly Mon still continues. Probably going to the SF bay. Again thanks.

The good news is you wouldn't stop with a THUD (like some of us have).
