I keep a spare pull cord for my outboard as a redundant back up. I also keep spare cotter rings (that's what I call them )and a paddle. Looks like I might be adding some scope creep from the original "spare tool" question.
It's not so much what I keep on-board for tools as it is what I keep in my car trunk. I pretty much had the whole marine tool shop and supplies in there until recently. Just pulled out my 5 drawer tool box of SS nuts & bolts and electrical fasteners. I always have my Dremel w/accessories and my Butane mini-soldering torch.
Dave, thanks for mentioning about the paddle. I have paddles at home but never have gotten one on my boat. I keep forgetting to bring it down. Maybe I can remember long enough this morning to get one in the car and bring it on-board today !

I am like Larry, I have most of my hand tools in 4 tollboxes and they go into the truck or car depending which one we take. Since we are lake sailors, I have a few tools on board for emergencies and carry a leatherman. If I need to do major repairs, it's back to the marina anyway. Also have a lot of the stuff already mentioned.
