ok, Im jus about done with my boat, and want to post some pictures for you all to see some of the mods I did, I tryed doing this once before and gave up, would like someone to walk me through like Im an idiot,,lol, thanks
then go to 'Testing Forum' for a complete step by step.
The basics are: set up a Shutterfly account, which I think you've already done. You need to copy the URL from the picture in Shutterfly that you want to post here on the forum - then you paste that URL between the square braces with the letters img in them.
Its fairly quick after you've done it once or twice.
Start by clicking on the yellow icon on the format bar, go to shutterfly and copy the URL, come back here and paste the URL between the square braces. You can preview by hitting the preview button below.
You are limited to whatever sizes are in your hosting site. On Shutterfly, there is thumbnail and full, the size you posted. You can make some mods on shutterfly, they have some basic tools although I've never really tried them out.
To use the thumbnail size, right click on it while its in thumbnail size and capture its URL. The full size has a different URL and is therefore captured when you are viewing it in full size mode.
Is there any other way to post a picture? The reason for the question, is that our IT Dept. has blocked certain web sites and shutterfly is one of them.
I posted the selected picture on Photobucket. I copied the html and when I try to paste it all I get is the web address with no picture. I have looked for the icon someone mention and could not find one.
Could you please tell me your procedure for posting pictures using photobucket?
photobucket will work just fine. You need to copy the URL. right click on the picture, go to properties, copy the entire URL and paste it here, between the img brackets.
When you say the img brackets, you are talking about the square brackets just to the right of the letter P, correct? I copied the complete address insert between these brackets and I still do not get the photo. Just to the left of where I am writing this message it says HTML is off, does this have anything to do with my trouble?
Open the reply to topic box. click on this icon clicking on the icon will place the img brackets in the reply to topic box. Then go to photobucket and right click on the image you want to post here, when the dialogue box opens, left click on 'properties', the properties box will open, copy the address (also known as the URL) and paste it between the img brackets.
When you copy the URL between the brackets that is all you will see until you click on "Post New Reply". When all settles and you look on the thread for your post the pictures will appear if you did it correctly, if not a red "X" in a box.
When you press this button it inserst a set of tags that look like this. [img ][/img ]
Go to where you photo is on the web and copy your photo's url address and paste it in between the opening tag, [img ] and the closing tag, [/img ].
So now your text should look like this. [img ] http:// your photo's url here.jpg [/img ]
It is just like if you inserted quotes into a sentence. " He said, She said." The difference is that when you use image tags [img ][/img ], the browser quotes the photo.
I added spaces to the tags above so don't copy those, they are only for example.
Stampeder's explination of how to find your photo's url is perfect. Follow it to the letter and it will work.
Your photo's url will end in .jpg and not .html. So if your url has .html at the end, that is a complete web page, not a photo.
I figured it out too. These helpful guys must get tired of answering the same old questions. Here's another one however. I had trouble doing the same thing with a thumbnail in my signature like some of you (helpful) guys have.
<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"><i>Originally posted by knightwind</i> <br />...I had trouble doing the same thing with a thumbnail in my signature like some of you (helpful) guys have.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">In the signature, you'll have to type the two "tags" (in the square brackets as HappyD shows them) yourself, and put the URL for the thumbnail between them.
BTW, Happy... Cute trick to get the tags to show, with the extraneous space. Peter--don't put any spaces inside the brackets--that's a trick Happy used to keep the forum software from recognizing them as tags in his post.
