Ok, I'm now in a dock in a marina and, well, I went to the head and gee, I guess I'm going to need curtains. I did a search here and there is only one tech tip using wooden dowel top and bottom to slide the curtains on.

My question is how thick is the sidewall on the 250 and what is the best way to attach the dowel. I see that spacers were used to hold the dowel away from the sides. What is the best fastener to use and how deep to drill? Am I asking for trouble later if one of these "pops" loose?

I have also seen window "shades" that stick to the plexiglass and picket fence style, slide open and close. Custom made and a bit expensive (When I last checked over $350)

Any one with some other solutions other than the tape and paper towel route?

we have the pleated shades that came with the boat. but a year or so ago, someone posted that they went to home depot and bought a large self stick pleated shade and cut it to fit all of their windows. that might work for you.

We have the pleated Catalina curtains but there are none in the head. If a neighbor peers in the head window I just smile and wave.

I'd stick to a #6 screw 1/4" or 3/8" long and you'll be fine. You don't need much holding power for a curtain.

We'll be at the boat today and I'll measure the screws that Catalina used.

I followed Oscars design in the tech tips a couple years ago, worked fine. Haven't had any of the screws pop yet.

OK, I measured the screws that Catalina used. They are #6 screws with beveled head. Total length, including head, is 3/8".

I remember that post now. I actually found the pleated curtains at Home depot last year and almost bought them. Maybe I will revisit them.

Thanks Randy for measuring the screw. That will help a lot if I go that route. I just found some nice hardware for curtain track and slides at Sailrite.com.

The vinyl track looks great for sliding open and close curtains and inexpensive also. They have all the rest of what you need to complete this kind of project.
