I wish I had your equilibrium , David, I have had this problem with motion sickness my entire life and often wonder what it would be like to be able to go on amusement rides, or even spin in a cirlce, or anything to do with balance It is hard for me to enjoy the things that I really love to to, I have gone to Doctors, specialists, anybody and anything that could shed some light on why I have heard reasons ranging from pyschological to physiological and I dont know what to think, all I can say is it sucks to get this,When you get motion sick, You just want to die, I have had many health issues and by far this one is the one I would love to not ever see again, it is absolutely horrible in every way Im telling you , I only know a hand full of people, one of them being my daughter which is 16 now has it as bad as I do. My Son however does not, go figure. One doctor took test ont top of test on top of tests, and what they came up with was that during the developent of my inner ear during birth , something doesent go quite the way it should, for lack of a better explanation and the balance receptors dont react fast enough, which would explain why my daughter has it, It can be passed down to children etc, but with that said, thank god for drugs, cause Im not going to let it keep me from enjoying the things I love to do thanks to all for the info, and advise
Yea I thought I had motion sickness for a long long time until one day I really looked at it and realized I just had a deep fear of "becoming" motion sick. There are certain things that I just dont like, motion theater rides, planetariums when they spin the stars really fast, spinning in circles. Dizzyness straight up scares the heck out of me, the feeling of the earth moving and tilting like that sends me into a panic. With that being said, Im still pretty sure I dont get "sick". Boat movement relaxes me severly! The one day I was in the bay in 3-4ft chop and 25kts winds, I had a blast in the vberth literally flying all over the place. Its wierd.... Get me dizzy and I have a mild anxiety attack but get me on a rolly boat and I love it.
Now I just need to see if my stomach can handle the ocean...
My wife asked her doctor if there was anything to help with the retained "sea legs" (swaying, falling over in the shower, etc.) after a long period on the boat. He said the only way to prevent that was for me to call him when I wanted to go sailing so she wouldn't have to go.
