I've got an 84 FK and last year I noticed some blisters on the Keel. I just had the bottom soda blasted and now the fun begins. I think I will use Interlux 2000E for the bottom. I am also going to have someone check the moisture. The blisters run along the keel just about even with the bottom of the bilge. Any idea about how many square feet the bottom is? Any other ideas or help will be greatly appreciated KJ

I guessed, for my own painting purposes, that the bottom is about 250 sq ft - can't wait to hear what the real answer is.
(8'W X 25'L) X boat shape + keel = ~250

Is it the iron that is blistering, or the gelcoat?

If you plan to remove the blisters and repair the Gelcoat, watch out for the fluid that's inside the blisters. According to Don Casey (and others) the liquid is acid, and can be very painful if it gets in your eyes.

Wear eye protection and place a rag or towel over the blisters when you break them.

I redid my bottom with InterProtect 1000 / 2000E system 15yrs ago and if I remember correctly I used 4qts of each (100 & 200) to cover from the waterline to the bottom of the keel.

You are wise to have the moisture checked. The hull should be dried out thoroughly before applying the interprotect and that means you may have to wait or use mechanical means to make sure it is dry, but it will be worth it because if you don't dry it out you'll be repairing sections year after year.

Other things I remember about doing the job:
1- Use a chemical resistant roller.
2- Try to do the job on a day when the temperature will remain above 70 degrees for 24 hrs.
3- Above 85 degrees it gets hard to roll the Interlux on because it cures too fast.

Good Luck
