Holy Freaking cow! My driver just called and a window opened up so he's hauling the boat to the marina TONIGHT at 6:30! and he did me the favour of calling ahead to hold crane time!!!

I was expecting him to arrive around 8:00, load the boat, and then have overnight to finish off a few projects before launch tomorrow morning.

I don't even have the freaking name on the port side yet! (It looks pretty good on Stbd though), and I guess we will be sailing with the shadows of the PO's registration, and put our numbers on in the fall, or while in the slip.

I guess I can clean the interior once she's on the water - but the real question is...

Will I be able to get out of the office early enough to be there when she's loaded and launched!?!?

Damn, I shoulda known better than to cut the lawn last night - I could have had the name on and hull polished in that time.

Take a minute to register your boat with the association!!

Another good reason to replace all lawn with asphalt.

My wife pretty much accepts the fact that I'll neglect all yardwork prior to the Spring launch. She's still trying to accept the fact that after I launch, I'm too busy sailing to do any yardwork.

While both solutions are good ideas, an acre and a half on a corner lot is pretty conspicuous - especially if it is unkempt...

I have a motto that works well for me:
"If I can't mow it, I don't grow it..." Anything that takes more time investment remains the Admiral's responsibility. Luckily, she loves to garden... I love to sail...

Exactly why I took the time a few years ago to plant perenials, lay down that plastic weed free cover and layered a ton of mulch over the top of it for all of our flowerbeds. All it needs now is a new coat of mulch every year (after the boat is in the water) and I'm ready to win the city's best kept yard award. Messing with those annuals every year is more trouble than I like to deal with.

I still only own half the boat and my wife combined with the other guy's wife don't even bother to ask when we will be home on saturdays during the spring. They just know that if its still burning daylight, we are still working on some project that probably isn't really needed.

I have a service cut the lawn for me because of allergies, but a nice byproduct is that I don't have to take time away from the boat to mess with that either.

One of our debates when figuring the costs associated w/ the boat is whether or not to include the cost of the gardeners along w/ the marina, insurance, etc...

Another reason to feel good about my condo fee... which also maintains our dock and my slip. But then my "very good friend" has five acres, mostly wooded, with lawns and gardens all over the place--all self-maintained--also deadfalls and other stuff. So much for "condo life"... it frees me up to do her lawn and run her chainsaw.

If the sailing went away would the gardener? That would be the answer to that question....
