Well I have your attention. I have my boat in the water at Lake Mead. In January of last year it was discovered that some how the Quagga mussels have been introduced into the the lake. Since than they have spread out of control. I took a look at the bottom of my boat this past weekend and it is covered in them. No wonder my boat speed is so slow... I thought it is just me.
Well I have been able to locate a trailer and will pull it out of the water later this week. I will take lots of pictures. The boat has to be inspected and than taken to a cleaning station to have them removed. Then the plan is to do a new bottom job. The original owners chose not to have the bottom painted when the bought the boat. So now it is time to do it.
My question is what is the best paint to use for the bottom and where to get it. Can I do it myself, any tips would be great. I am not a racer and don't require a paint that is made for that. I just want something that will last a couple of years and will keep the mussels off the bottom. Thanks for all your help.
There are a lot of threads about bottom paint. Use the search function and you'll be sure to get a huge lesson. I'd probably check with others in your marina to see what works best for them in your particular situation.
I am kinda surprised, though. I thought you had white wine with mussels? Sorry, couldn't resist.
