Hello

I have been able to finally find a trailer for the cat 250. I will be going down to San Diego in a few weeks to get it. I would like to find someone in SD that can look at the trailer and make sure that I have everything I need. The trailer had a new 250 on her and the owner does not want the trailer. It should be all ready for the boat. I would like to go over with some one the procedures for loading the boat, lowering the mast and than raise and unload the boat. Mine is a wing keel. Thanks for the help and I will search the forum for any Info I can find.

Probably goes without saying but the trailer you found needs to be a trailer for a wing keel. The water ballast trailer is very different.

Yes it is for a wing keel boat. That is what was on it a few months ago. I am going down to the lake this week and take a look at the lauch ramp area. I want to walk it and get an idea of how deep how steep etc. Here at Lake Mead the water level is droping fast and it is always changing. I kayaked ofer a reef 3 months agos. Last week people were camping out on it. Sad....

Lucky you to find a trailer! I assume you are already in the water, correct? If not are you having a yard lift the boat onto the trailer?

There a a technique called "strap launching" that you will need to learn. Not hard but does take some equipment and certain steps to do it. When are you going to launch/retrieve? I'll post instructions on how to strap launch.

Do you have the C250 manual? It describes how to use the trailer mast raising system. It is an excellent system and you will have no troubles. I assume your trailer has the mast raising tower and that you have a mast "crutch" that mounts on the transom. Also, that you have two "baby stays" and a collar that goes around the mast for raising. Verify that you have these things.

The boat I have had a 2 years now it is in a slip at Lake Mead. The original owner bought the boat and had it delivered to lake Mead and did not buy the trailer. I have all original manuals and will go through the section on raising the mast. I am not sure what the trailer has. I know it does not have the trailer tongue extension, but as far as mast raising system I am not sure. I will be going to San Diego in two weeks to pick it up. Maybe I can meet someone from the San Diego area that can take a look at the trailer with me and let me know if ther is anything I need. I know I need the straps and will be getting some of them soon.
